Beauty Do's and Don't's | 2015

I by no means consider myself an expert, but over the many years of experimenting with various beauty products and looks, I've learnt a thing or two about what works and what doesn't.

1. Eyeliner | Know when to stop. It's so easy to get carried away trying the perfect the feline flick, but it's easier still to soon find yourself sporting a panda eye. My tip is to start small. Don't go for anything too dramatic and tricky. Take small easy steps to achieve your desired look, this'll make it easier to copy to the other eye too.

2. Foundation | Finding the perfect base is key. Although not everyone can afford a high end foundation, I think finding one that suits your skin type and tone is essential to any beauty look. Rimmel and L'Oreal Paris are great high street brands that do stunning foundation's at affordable prices. For those of you wanting a more high end base, Clinique, MAC and Nars are brands I definitely recommend.

3. Contouring | Bronzers do the job, there's no denying that. However there are a few tips I'd like to share when it comes to using bronzer as a means of contouring. Firstly, use matte shades. The whole idea of contouring is based around sculpting your face through adding 'trick of the eye' shadows to exagerate areas of the face that naturally indent e.g. hollows of the cheeks, temples, jaw line, etc. Matte powders create the perfect shadow like effect as they do not reflect or attract light,so are ideal for the job.

4. Highlighting | If your foundation is not a matte formula, you may benefit from using a mattifying powder before applying any highlighter. This will ensure that only the areas you want highlighted have that subtle shimmer to it.

5. Never underestimate skincare | Having a consistent skincare regime can have an amazing impact on the way make-up sits on your face. The better you are at keeping on top of your skincare regime, the healthier and more natural your make up will look.

6. Mascara | Again, know when to stop. Fanned out full fat black lashes are what every girl desires, however if you go overboard with the amount of layers you apply the finishing look may appear a tad clumpy.

7. Concealer | Never touch the concealer applicator to a spot or blemish you have, only touch this area with your fingers. This will ensure that your actual concealer does not get contaminated which will help prevent the spread of spots/blemishes.

So there you go, my little list of beauty do's and don't's !
I hope this can assist some of you!

Until the next time,
