January Favourites | 2015

Well I never, it's February already.

I've been waiting to write this blog post since the start of the year. I'd purchased so much beauty products at the beginning of the month I really could not wait to try them out and write about them. Although a few of the items that have made it onto the list are old favorites and holy grail products of mine, a handful of them are relatively new to my collection.

So without further ado, here are my January favorites!

Ted Baker Baby Pink Small Wash Bag (n/a similar one here) - For Christmas, my Dad got me the navy and gold edition of this 'wash bag', put in single inverted commas as I use mine as a make-up bag rather than a wash bag, and I instantly fell in love with it! However, as a self confessed beauty addict it didn't quite fit everything inside, and in particular I wanted a separate bag for my brushes as my collection was becoming quite extensive. So off I popped to the John Lewis website and had a quick look round and it did not take me long to find and fall in love with this one. I highly recommend them, they're such a beautiful design and look stunning sitting on your dressing table!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (available here) - This is without doubt my holy grail foundation, I cannot praise it enough. One thing I must say is that despite the name, there is nothing sheer about this foundation. The smallest amount gives me medium to full coverage, meaning that the product itself lasts a good few months! It is definitely worth the investment.

Bare Minerals Prime Time Foundation Primer Original (available here) - This has also quickly become a holy grail product of mine. One pump of this primer gives my face full coverage and leaves it feeling soft and smooth, ready for my foundation. It's a clear formula and absorbs into your skin almost instantly.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer (available here) - I've given this concealer a dual purpose within my collection. As I use it mainly for under the eyes, I purposely buy a shade or two lighter than my actual skin tone so it acts as a highlighter as well as a concealer. It does both jobs wonderfully and is so affordable, definitely a staple item for every make-up collection.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion (available here) - Arguably the best eye primer to ever exist. Only a tiny amount is required, so the product last for ages which is a slight justification as to spending so much money on a eye primer! My eyeshadow honestly does not budge if I have used this.

Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner Pen Carbon Black Extreme (available here) - I absolutely love this eyeliner. The pointed nib makes it so easy to achieve a feline flick, and I also think it's a lot less hassle than using a liquid liner as I always find that when I apply liquid liner, it causes my lashes to stick together and so makes the application of mascara more of a challenge.

Rimmel Sun Shimmer Bronzing Powder Light Matt (available here) - I use this as a means of contouring and it does the job beautifully. I'm not a huge fan of massively defined cheek bones as I think it can sometimes look a little unhealthy, however this is perfect for achieving the subtle look that I prefer.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Lightscapade (available here) - MAC is by far my favorite make-up brand. I am a huge fan of their lipsticks and I had been lusting over this product ever since I first saw it. I had to wait about a week for it to be in stock, but as soon as it was I grabbed it. It's a beautiful subtle highlight shade and oh my gosh the packaging and just everything about this product is a winner for me. It's STUNNING.

E.L.F. Studio Mascara Primer (available here) - I never thought I'd be one to rely largely on a mascara primer as I naturally have quite long lashes, however the difference this makes is crazy. It's very rarely I'll go without it.

Nyx Doll Eye Mascara DE02 Volume (available here) - This mascara 'does what is says on the tin', if you will. My go-to mascara throughout January.

Urban Decay Chill Cooling & Hydrating Make Up Setting Spray (available here) - I used this a lot this month, I must admit. It's not something I necessarily wear every day, but on the days where it was likely that my make-up would be affected by the weather i.e. if it was raining, then I'd spritz this over my face and the lasting power of my make-up was doubled. I can't wait to use this in the summer.

From left to right - Hearts Aflame (Matte) Russian Red (Matte) and Brave (Satin)
MAC Hearts Aflame Matte Lipstick (n/a) - Unfortunately this was a limited edition lipstick but I really hope they add it to the permanent collection because it is my all time favorite lipstick from them. For anyone interested, Rimmel Kate Moss 107 is a very close dupe of this shade.

MAC Russian Red Matte Lipstick (available here) - This is basically a matte version of MAC Red (satin) and so it's lasting power is much greater. It's a vibrant red color and looks very classy with a winged eyeliner, very Marilyn Monroe. MAC Matte's are my all time favorite lipsticks and I just think they are stunning and such a lovely formula. This is a red that you can never go wrong with.

MAC Brave Satin Lipstick (available here) - For me, this is a 'your lips but better' shade. It's a very moisturising formula and lasts such a long time. It also looks stunning partnered with MAC's Soar lip pencil.

Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette (available here) - I have so much love for this palette it's unreal. The shades are perfect and I use it pretty much every day. It's definitely been worth the investment, I cannot praise it enough!!

So there we have it! I have loved every single one of these products this past month, I'd definitely recommend them to anyone!

Feel free to comment below any of your January favorites!
Until the next time,
